Social Welfare

Social Welfare department established with emergence of VSWAs’ Ordinance 1961. This Department regularly started functions from 1968 in District Bannu. Social Welfare Department operates under the supervision of Provincial Government/District Government. There is no permanent office for this Department. At present this department have obtained building on rent for rendering of Social Welfare services to the Community.

FUNCTIONS OF SOCIAL WELFARE DEPARTMENT:

1. CENTRE FOR MR&PH CHILDREN.

A Social Services delivery unit for Welfare and rehabilitation of Handicapped Children. Such children consist of two categories: -

• Physical Handicapped.
• Mentally Retarded.

The basic objective of Centre for MR&PH children is to provide primary education, religious education, skill/crafting, electronic works, music for rehabilitation etc in order to enable them for earning and adjustment in the community. There are 21 number of staffs including Manager, teachers, clerks, class IV in the center. There is Pick & Drop facility to the special children.

This institute provides free education, school uniforms, transport facility and training in vocational, sewing, cutting and knitting.     

2. DEAF SCHOOL.

The deaf children cannot be educated in normal schools for which special schools are needed as education to them is imparted through implication and through lips reading, sign languages and with the help of special training and thereby. They could not be taught and trained in normal schools so Government has established Deaf school at Bannu for the said purpose.

Deaf school provides free education, school uniforms, transport facility and training in vocational, sewing, cutting and knitting.  Furthermore, Deaf School Bannu segregate/Separate section of female Students under supervision of Abda Qureshi Vocational Teacher. There are 11 number of staffs at Deaf School Bannu.

3. CHILD WELFARE HOME:

Development and Education is a fundamental right for each child. This required the facilities with which such children are make to avail of the opportunities of development and education. To provide children with such facilities the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa started a Scheme called “CHILD WELFARE HOME”.

 The basic objective of child Welfare Home is to provide basic education to orphanage. There is a hostel facility for the students along with free food, clothes, medicine, shoes, books etc. Presently there are 20 students admitted at the child welfare home.

4. INDUSTRIAL TRAINING CENTERS.

There are 11 Industrial Training Centers/Dastakari Center working under the control of District Officer, Social Welfare Bannu.

The main aim/Objective of these centers are to empower economically women force through the skill of needle crafting and enabling them to earn honorably for affording their families on one hand and provide the community the services on the other. There are average 25 female students at each center.
